Detention is Riddhika Jain’s debut novel, this book is about the LGBTQ community, before getting into the book, I’d like to tell you one thing about the book is that the book pace is average until the last 2-3 chapter. Overall it is okay. . The Story based on the high school girl. A decent girl with excellent academics. But the story started upside down when a new teacher arrived at the college. And the Kayla protagonist of the book is begun hating her on the first day because that teacher did something to her best friend. And that’s when the story took a turn. . It is a debut novel, but it supposed to be a better one. But it’s alright this book worth to give a try. And you’re getting a new experience from it.

The cover of the book is colourful and it itself reveals the theme of the book. Well, lady on the cover depicts the character of the teacher to whom kayla hates the most. The title is apt. The language is lucid and cogent. It is fast paced and short read book. The protagonist character is strong, loving, caring, humble, emotional and intellectual. The plotting is very good and i like the way author added some twists and turns in the storyline which make the story crispy and enjoyable and also keep the readers hooked till end. Author only wants to convey just one message that love is love whether it's between girl and girl, or boy and boy, or girl and boy. Every human deserves love and it shouldn't be judged base on sexuality or gender but it should be accepted with kindness. To sum up, it's light read and narrated so well 💯 recommended to all readers and also to those who want to read lgbt theme book.

The story revolves around a teenager named Kayla who always got straight A's and had no enemies. Her life turns upside down when a new teacher Ms.Taylor, gives her detention for a month. It's about a confused teenager who has a hard time accepting her identity. This book is recommended for people that love a teenage drama love story. Some of my favourite quotes: "I wanted to prove to myself that I can date a boy and also to show her that I could never love her." . "Always remember, love is a beautiful feeling. And when it happens to you, you know it right then and there. Sometimes, people misunderstood love with friendship. Friendship gives you happiness. But, love gives you a feeling of comfort. So never confuse both of them." . "Maybe loving her was my fault." #loveislove

" Always remember, love is a beautiful feeling. And when it happens to you, you know it right then and there." . Firstly, this is my first read in this particular genre and I absolutely loved the book. Although it was the author's debut novel , it did a great job making me love the book. This story is about a top student Kayla who is perfect in her studies, A grade student admired by all her teachers but suddenly one day she is put into detention for a reason she cannot explain. She is quite frustrated to spend a month in detention with the teacher that she hates the most, Ms. Angela Taylor. Which started as a dare develops into a love hate relationship with growing protectiveness for each other from a mysterious killer. The plot and character development is good and the language is also simple. Kayla's dilemma over her sexuality and a series of unexpected emotions makes this a good read. It truly depicts the message that love knows no boundaries and love is love. It is

Riddhika is amazing ðŸ˜, waiting for more books by her. The story structure was so well set up, its like I could imagine through the words✨. The way it started and that Warren guy twist, then when Angela comforts Kayla at her home. The imagery is damnðŸ˜. Twists and turns blew my mindðŸ˜. I'd urge her to write more and keep the readers posted. All the best girl 🎊✨.

Kayla was one of the best student any teacher can ask for. Always the one with straight A's. Kayla never even had any enemies in her entire school. But still she was the one sitting in the detention class with the only teacher she couldn't bear to see. But this detention had its own reasons. Will this detention lead Kayla to something good or bad in her life? 🌈 While reading the book I was able to every emotion that Kayla was going through. The anger towards the teacher, the love and care for her best friend. The loneliness she had after getting home. The mixed feelings she was getting about her teacher. Every emotion is depicted beautifully in the novel and once even if you read it you too will be able to feel it. 🌈 The author is giving a beautiful message through this book about love. Love is not just between two individuals of different sex instead love is between two souls and two hearts irrespective of the gender of those two souls. 🌈 Someone who is looking for

Detention is an amazing book written beautifully by Radhika. She is a supporter of LGBTQ community so in support to that she jas written this outstanding performance about their love!!! Love doesn't stand a thing!! Love sees nothing!!! It doesn't matter of what age, sex you belong your efforts matter the most. It doesn't matter from how long you know the person, matters is your understanding and trust. The most beautiful love story starts with hatred turning into love that's what happened with this student and teacher. Lesbian, gay, bisexual or straight all deserve love and respect!! As its said there are many love stories but you have to feel yours to be the best!!! It was an amazing book illustrating how two different aged girls fall in love and fight for each other!! Love always win, and at end everyone accepts it... Go read this outstanding book when you want to know what actually love is!!!

This is the author's debut book and I think she has some pretty nice job. The book talks about the LGBTQ community and how the protagonist's life unfolds and she learns about her sexual orientation. This book is a first hand account of the protagonist Kayla, where she talks about her past, present and how she feels about things happening in her life daily. Through the protagonist, the author has also tried talking about the homophobia she faces while she started having some strange feeling (according to herself) about someone of the same gender. I would say that the book cover and title seemed apt for the story. The language of the book is very simple. I appreciate the author to choose LGBTQ as the theme of her debut book. Through this book she has tried to convey that love is love, it doesn't see any age or gender and it's never planned, it just happens. I felt that the book could have been better. At times it felt slow paced and lacked proper character building. If a non- reg

Always remember, love is a beautiful feeling. And when it happens to you, you know it right then and there. ðŸ’💠Have you ever wondered what really gives us happiness, the little things or money ???? This is my first book from LGBT Literature and I really appreciate those author who support them by writing about it openly. Because to write about something first you have accept that from your heart. And also it clarifies others point of view by giving a closer look inside their life. This book is about Kayla, she's beautiful, she's obedient, sincere and an A grade student. And when she found herself in the detention class without doing anything, she got furious and started to hate her detention teacher, Ms. Anderson. Ms. Anderson on the other hand is elegant, mature and she's totally aware of what she's doing and what exactly she wants from her life. I really enjoyed reading how love blooms between two people and how Kayla's hate gradually becomes love toward

Detention by Riddhika Jain is a LGBTQ+ romance thriller. Kayla Anderson has always lived her life alone. With her mother leaving them and her father taking his own life she has always surrounded herself with high school work and has always been an ace student. On the other side Ms. Angela Taylor their teacher has been in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend for past three years. A sudden turn of events and Kayla who had always been a good student finds herself in detention for a month by Miss Angela without any explanation as to why she got detained. The story further revolves around their love-hate relationship, Kayla's conflicting thoughts towards her sexuality and how they both further find themselves being protective for each other from a mysterious killer. Being her debut novel and a story which revolves around LGBTQ+ community, the author has done a commendable job in putting her thoughts through the narrative. A story of discovering oneself, knowing what they are, what their interests are within their own core.It was a unique read for me and the topics discussed (LGBT,sexual assault) gave new insights from different aspects. One such phrase which touched my heart was; "you have to promise me that you will find someone who will always love you for yourself, and would never want you to change. You also have to promise me that you would never again miss me, because I am sure the love you will have for the person you find will be enough for both of you to live happily together." . This happens to be my first ever book from LGBTQ literature. It was worth the read! . The main leads of the story are Kay and Angela who happen to meet at school. The story starts with Kay hating her teacher Angela and gets detended for some unknown reason (read the book to know it ). The journey of how the hate turns into love is narrated very well by the author. Falling for each other is just not the end of the story, they had to face and fight against some strange mysterious stalker . The lines -" Its beyond happiness when you are with the one you love " is the definition of love from the author's view, which indeed is true. The story consists of various emotions which a teenage girl goes through in her journey . From the fear of being abnormal to accepting they are normal for each other. Also, love is love ! Love is beyond genders, castes and numbers. It's a strong connection of souls that gives both comfort and happiness. The true message of love is clearly depicted in t

🔖🔖 Putting a character's emotions on paper is not an easy task, especially when the character does not fits among the defined norms of the society. But let me Introduce to 'Kayla Anderson' a character from story 'Detention' by Riddhika. 🔖🔖 Riddhika did a fabulous job of taking us very close to the mind of homosexual character 'Kayla' and 'Angela'. The narration style feels a bit different and engaged me with a conversation with the kayla and Introduced me with all types of mixed thought that kayla was going through. At times I felt that story keeps on addressing the same feelings in different words and should have proceed further. But to my fail, exploring those emotions helped me to understand the character even more and help the story to maintain the pace and proceed to climax. 🔖🔖 The story is woven around american teen Highschool life. Protagonist of the book is 'Kayla' who thought she is straight untill she met 'Angela' who helped her in discovering her

We climb mountains for love; we do anything and everything for the person we want to spend our entire life with. And that's something this lovely story was all about. With a tint of romance, affection and love, there was a lot of appealing drama which adorned the whole storyline. This story is about a girl named Kayla, who somehow got herself in detention class in spite of the fact that she was an absolute brilliant in her studies, had a good reputation in school and always got As in her subjects. She didn't know the reason in the beginning of the story but as the plot continues, the things become more clear and clear and we can see the bubble of a little romance between Kayla and her teacher, Ms. Taylor who put her into that detention class at first. Now, talking about the narration, I absolutely loved it, to be very honest. It's in Kayla's point of view and even the minimal thing is described so precisely that we can get the idea of their surroundings, activities, moments, etc.

This book is a story about Kayla when one day she gets an unexpected detention in school. She can't seem to find a reason behind her detention as she is a good student, has no enemies and is loved by all the teachers and students. Life takes a turn when she has to meet the teacher she hates the most (Ms Taylor) everyday in her detention class. Failed friendship, unexpected emotions and undiscovered sexuality are few of the plot twists of this book. This is the first time I read LGBTQ themed novel and it has not disappointed me despite being a debut novel by the author. Although it is a short read with mere 110 pages, but you ought to keep your mind open when you read this. I found this to be a cute and twisted story and it sure did give leave me reminiscing about it. It is great for beginners like me who are not used to reading intense topic like LGBTQ. Detention is the story about a school girl named Kayla Anderson. She like most of the teenagers was going through regular high-school stuff like studies, classes, friend-groups and stuff. She was good student and a popular student among her classmates and teachers alike. She was convinced that she was straight her whole life until.. there was a new teacher in her school named Ms. Angela Taylor. She puts Kayla in detention for no reason. Things started to take different turns from there. This is hate turned love story of how Kayla overcomes the hatred against Ms. Taylor and confusion about her sexuality and confesses her love for her teacher.

Few chapters into it, somewhere down your heart you'll start to wonder if you're getting into some arousing book and might wamt to drop it, to not look awkward. Trust me on this one, continue reading it. It's about being lovable and romantic. No obscene language or thoughts incorporated at any part of the book. Before you finish reading your last word off the lastpage, if you didn't wish to remember your partner, you probably didn't read the book. Hellwith the narrow minds, suck it up the chimney and start reading.

Detention by Riddhika Jain is a LGBTQ+ Fiction novel. I haven't usually seen LGBTQ+ books written by Indian authors. I was so keen and excited while reading this one. And, it didn't ever disappoint me! I loved reading it. It's fast paced and well written. The characters are portrayed well and I liked the way the author has described her thoughts. As this's her first book, and a novel based on the LGBTQ+ community, the author has ardently shown her thoughts and views bravely and perfectly. The narration style was unique & intriguing. The differing thoughts of Kayla, while struggling to know if she's straight or not, was fascinating. The novel portrays the struggles & rights of LGBTQ+ community, love, stereotyping, society and other aspects. I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading YA or LGBTQ+ genre.

This is my first book from LGBTQ romance section. The story revovles around two female protagonist Kayla and Angela. Kayla is in her final year of academics while Angela is her teacher. In starting Kayla hates Angela because she has to attend detention for a month without having any reason and also because Angela was the reason behind the suspension of the Kayla's best friend for a week. From here their hatred - love relation started. Later there were many emotional drama like Kayla was facing conflicting emotions of love and hate towards Angela while Angela wanted Kayla to fall in love with her. Later Kayla found Angela to be in an abusing relationship with her boyfriend from past three years. What happens next, for this you should read the book. overall it was an average read. It introduces me to another section of books. Narration is smooth and written in simple language and in lucid way. Few chapters of end could be more better. I still liked the book. storm of emotions like love,

We got our hands on the e-copy of 'Detention', by @writtenbyriddhika. This is her debut novel and also my second read from the LGBTQ-romance genre. . This story is about a student, Kayla, who is hell-bent on hating her teacher for her every move. Kayla has mixed feelings for this teacher. She is almost always lonely at home and this just aggravates her dilemma. This emotion is depicted quite accurately - with some action twists! . This plot asked me to read with an open mind -that Love comes in many forms and you can't just pluck away that kind of love. It’s not about the gender, colour, age or profession but the strong union between two souls who could care for each other till the very end. . I felt the book was quite short and wanted more of their story, as I enjoyed the strong sentiments involved. I loved how it broke stereotypes while cherishing the sensitive topic. I rate this simple yet emotional book a 4 on 5.

Detention by Riddhika Jain 17-year-old Kayla Anderson was furious when she was detained for no particular reason. She was a straight-A student with zero enemies and teachers loved her. But there she was, in a detention class with Ms Angela Taylor, the only teacher she hated the most. What would this detention bring in Kayla's life? Detention is debut novel by Riddhika Jain. In this book, through Kayla's character, she has unleashed complicated feelings of a young teenage girl. Our protagonist Kayla thought she was straight until she met Ms Taylor and everything changed in her life. Betrayed by her best friend and being stalked by a murderer, she had discovered her true love. The story is narrated from Kayla's point of view. It is fast-paced and language is pellucid. The author has beautifully described the feelings of Kayla. The book cover is bold, beautiful and thoughtful and after reading the book, you will know whose character it resembles. I would recommend this book
